I began shooting models in June of 2007, in an effort to improve my general "available light" portraiture skills. Since then I've had the pleasure of working with and alongside some of the Chicagoland area’s finest models & photographers. I’ve had in excess of 100 sessions with 50+ models and have initiated several different projects in a variety of genres. I'm always looking to expand my skills and my focus... At the moment, I am primarily interested in shooting Interesting & Unique skin art, especially designs that have a backstory as interesting as the design itself... Project Description With "Storytime" I am setting myself up as a tattoo biographer, so to speak. The idea is to document Interesting & Unique skin art in both words and pictures. I intend to capture the beauty of your artwork & share the back story with those as fascinated with this art form as I am… Note: Please take notice that I do not have my own studio. Until further notice, I will be conducting all "Storytime" sessions at my models' location. I am looking into the possibility of renting studio space on a monthly basis to conduct multiple sessions, but so far - well, I'll just say negotiations are ongoing. For now, I intend to continue as I have begun, saving my models the time, hassle, & expense of traveling to me. Who I’m Looking For Storytime is open to both MALE & FEMALE models, 18 years of age and older who have Interesting Ink. And please take note that by "Interesting" I mean UNIQUE. A standard run-of-the-mill heart or butterfly (for example) on your bicep or shoulder or even your cute li'l tushy, is not truly Unique and is of little interest - no matter how cute your tushy may be... :) I not only want to capture your Ink, but I need to capture the story behind it as well. Is it a tribute to someone now gone? A memorial? A reminder of happier times? Sadder times? Where you came from? The result of too much shore leave in Singapore? Pretty pictures are only half the deal on this one, folks… If you don't care to share, then there's no point to shooting! Session Requirements I will need a copy of your photo ID, so please have it handy. You will be expected to sign my Commercial Model Release prior to shooting. I additionally require a cell phone number & email address for you prior to confirming our session. These points are absolutes, embedded in stone. Sessions are short. I require a headshot for my records, as well as two views of your Ink for the project. View No. 1 is a "relatively" wide angle shot to locate your Ink's precise placement on the body. View No. 2 is as tight a closeup of your Ink as I can manage. Fair Warning: Some brief nudity may be required, depending on precisely where you have located your Ink. A clear, unobstructed view of your Ink is vital to capturing the best possible image. If this is an issue, I will do what is possible to preserve modesty, but if those efforts result in less than optimal results we will have wasted our time & effort for no good reason. Time is precious. Needlessly wasting it is both pointless and maddening... Model Compensation This project is being conducted on a Trade basis. Each model participating in the project will receive, at minimum, their choice of 3 edited image files sized for both print & web use. Please note I said "minimum." Models having having multiple tattoos will likely receive more images than those with a single design.
